Painting: Diana and Actaeon, 1556-9

This interactive guide investigates every aspect of this painting by Titian. It represents a myth taken from Ovid's "Metamorphoses", in which a hunter discovers accidentally where Diana was bathing. As a revenge, she will turn him into a stag and his dogs will eat him. Students may try to describe and interpret facial expressions, objects and landscape before they listen to a video in which an expert explains the composition. There is a section about the artist, another about hidden meanings and one on paints and pigments. A glossary is available at the bottom.
